CROOKSTON – United North Central posted a pair of Section 8A wrestling victories at Crookston on Thursday, Jan. 6.

The Warriors followed a 51-13 win over Frazee with a 66-16 victory over Crookston to improve to 3-0 against section teams and 9-3 in dual meets. Frazee topped Crookston 37-30 in the other match.

UNC jumped out to a 35-0 lead in coasting past Frazee. Pins by Conrad Koll at 106 pounds, Zach Hendrickson at 120 and Aaron Lake at 126 along with Zack Davidson’s forfeit win at 113, major decisions by Spencer Erickson at 132 and Wyatt Olson at 138, and Ethan Hendrickson’s minor decision at 145 gave the Warriors the early lead. Eion Ness’ major decision at 160, Torrey Carlson’s forfeit win at 220 and Marcus Peterson’s pin at 285 capped off the win as Frazee fell to 3-5.

The Warriors used another fast start to defeat Crookston. UNC won the first five matches in building a 30-0 lead behind pins by Koll at 106, Zach Hendrickson at 120 and Lake at 132 along with forfeits to Davidson at 113 and Erickson at 126. Pins by Ethan Hendrickson at 145, Hank Tellers at 152, Ness at 160, Carlson at 220 and Peterson at 285 helped seal the win. Shawn Hendrickson received a forfeit at 182 as Crookston fell to 5-4 in dual meets.

UCB tops Panthers

LAKE PARK – United Clay Becker won three of the final four matches to claim a 43-34 win over the Park Rapids wrestling team in a dual meet at Lake Park on Thursday, Jan. 6.

Robby Sherk’s pin in 1:45 at 106 and forfeit wins by Aidan Maanum at 113, Wrigley Clark at 120 and Henry Thorson at 126 gave the Panthers a 24-0 lead.

UCB won the next five matches to claim a 28-24 edge before Lucas Kritzeck’s 9-1 decision at 170 tied the dual at 28-28. A takedown and nearfall in the first period, a takedown in the second period, and a reversal in the third period gave Kritzeck the win.

Park Rapids had to forfeit the next two matches before D’Andre Johnson received a forfeit at 220 as the Panthers trailed 40-34. UCB won the final match to seal the win.

The loss dropped Park Rapids to 3-5 in dual meets while UCB improved to 2-0.
