LAKE QUALITY

The Hubbard County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD), in partnership with the Crow Wing County SWCD, received a federal grant from the Midwest Glacial Lakes Partnership (MGLP) to educate shoreline landowners about how to manage their land in order to protect their lakes.
Dr. Leif G. Olmanson, research associate for the University of Minnesota Department of Forest Resources, will explain how the water quality data collected by Hubbard County Coalition of Lake Association volunteers is used in combination with satellite data to extract lake water quality data for all lakes in Minnesota.
The Hubbard and Crow Wing SWCDs will partner with Mantrap, Gull and Whitefish Chain lake associations to train over 40 citizens in lake ecology.
