Work on the Highway 34 project from Park Rapids to Akeley started bright and early Monday with culvert work just east of County Road 4. Road crews and MnDOT officials are anxiously watching Minnesota politics, hoping to avoid a governmental shutdown July 1. The 3.2 mile stretch to Dorset corner is supposed to be finished by then.
