Park Rapids Community Education will begin holding classes for youth baseball, gymnastics and softball.
The youth baseball program, which is a collaboration between Park Rapids Youth Baseball and Community Ed, will begin on Monday (June 22) for ages 9-12 at the Century School fields. This program is for intermediate players focusing on refining the fundamentals of the game. The program will run in the evenings through July 9. The program may be continued if the state’s COVID-19 guidelines permit teams to scrimmage or play games. Players should bring a glove and a water bottle and be prepared to practice. The cost is $30. Gymnastics classes for Level 3 and 4 will also begin on Monday (June 22). These classes are training sessions to become competitive gymnasts. Level 3 gymnasts will meet from 9 a.m to noon in three sessions (Mondays from June 22 to July 27, Wednesdays from June 24 to July 29 and Fridays from June 26 to July 31). The cost is $90 for the Monday and Wednesday sessions and $75 for the Friday sessions (this group will not meet on July 3). Level 4 gymnasts will meet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in two sessions (Tuesdays from June 23 to July 28 and Thursdays from June 25 to July 30). The cost for the Level 4 sessions is $120.
The summer softball program will begin Monday (June 22) and run through July 16 at the Area High School softball field. This program may also be extended if the state’s COVID-19 guidelines permit teams to scrimmage or play games. Ages 9-10 will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, ages 11-12 will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, ages 13-14 will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and ages 15-17 will meet from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The cost is $25.
