Wolf Lake scored six times in the middle innings and two times in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the Park Rapids Esox 9-7 in a Lake and Pine League amateur baseball game Sunday afternoon at Wolf Lake.
Park Rapids took a 3-0 lead by scoring once in the second and twice in the third. Dave Mortensen walked and scored on Dan Pike's RBI single in the first while a bunt single by Riley Massie, a single by Cody Schirmers, a throwing error and a grounder by Derek Parks led to two runs in the third.
Wolf Lake tied the game by scoring once in the third and twice in the fourth. Jake Marcus singled and scored on a wild pitch in the third while Cory Wokasch scored on a wild pitch, Rij Koehnen doubled and Charles Haataja lined an RBI single to tie the game in the fourth.
After Parks singled and scored on Dylan Weaver's RBI single to give the Esox a 4-3 lead in the fifth, Wolf Lake used singles by Dylan Walsh and Koehnen and two-run single by Levi Schwartz to take a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth before a single by Marcus and RBI singles by Derek Pihlaja and Walsh made it 7-4 in the sixth.
The loss dropped Park Rapids to 5-5 in league games and 5-8 overall.
