Wilcox misses cut at MGA Amateur Championship

Park Rapids' Trent Wilcox missed the cut at the 117th Minnesota Golf Association Amateur Championship, which was held July 13-15 at Edina Country Club.

Wilcox, a member of Headwaters Golf Club, followed a 78 on the first day with a 76 on the second day for a 10-over par 154. The top 64 golfers in the 155-member field advanced to the final round with the cutoff at 149.

Frankie Capan of North Oaks Golf Club won the title at 12-under par with rounds of 66, 67 and 71 for a 204. Andrew Israelson of The Vintage at Staples followed at 10-under with rounds of 71, 70 and 65 for a 206.

Only 16 golfers finished the three-day tournament under par on the par-72 course.
