Warriors host Warroad, Panthers return to Perham for playoffs

A 28-8 loss to Crookston in the regular-season finale Wednesday night dropped Park Rapids to the No. 7 seed in Section 8AAA. That means the Panthers (2-6 on the season) will return to Perham (the No. 2 seed with a 7-1 record) for a 7 p.m. kickoff Tuesday night. Perham defeated Park Rapids 51-27 in Week 7.

The other Section 8AAA quarterfinal games Tuesday night find No. 1 Pequot Lakes (7-1) hosting No. 8 Roseau (1-7), No. 4 Thief River Falls (5-3) hosting No. 5 Crookston (3-5) and No. 3 Staples-Motley (8-0) hosting No. 6 East Grand Forks (2-6).

United North Central closed out the regular season with a 26-20 double-overtime victory over Upsala/Swanville Area Tuesday night to earn the No. 4 seed in the Section 8AA playoffs. The Warriors, who ended the season with a five-game winning streak and 6-2 overall record, will host No. 5 Warroad (2-6) at Sebeka. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

The other Section 8AA quarterfinal games pit No. 1 Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (7-1) against No. 8 Walker-Hackensack-Akeley (1-7), No. 2 Hawley (7-1) against No. 7 Bagley (2-6), and No. 3 Frazee (6-2) against No. 6 Pelican Rapids (2-6).

The high seeds will host the section semifinals next Saturday night at 6 with the Section 8AA championship game set for Friday, Nov. 6 at the Fargodome.
