Peyton Boom boomed down 17 kills and added four blocks in leading Barnesville to a 25-19, 21-25, 25-19, 25-16 victory over the Park Rapids volleyball team in a battle of Section 8AA teams Thursday night at the Area High School gym.
In Set 1, three kills by Bria Wolff, an ace serve by Kaisa Coborn and a kill by Megan Grimes kept the Panthers within 15-12 before Barnesville closed out the set with a 10-7 run.
Park Rapids evened the match by winning Set 2. Three kills by Grimes, a tip by Wolff and an ace serve by Macky Warne had the set tied at 9-9. Barnesville led 16-12 before Sydney Bynum served an ace and five points to give the Panthers a 19-16 advantage. Grimes and Wolff had kills during that stretch. With the set tied at 19-19, three ace serves by Grimes and a winning spike by Wolff evened the match.
A block by Wolff and Kennedy Carlson and kills by Grimes and Wolff tied Set 3 at 8-8. Two kills and a pair of ace serves by Grimes and a kill by Emily Dean kept the Panthers within 21-18 before Barnesville closed out the set.
Three kills by Grimes, kills by Dean, Wolff and Jaiden McCollum and an ace serve by Grimes kept the Panthers within 20-13 in Set 4 before Barnesville closed out the match with a 5-2 run.

Grimes finished with 15 kills, Wolff had 10 kills, McCollum and Grimes served eight points each and Kennedy had 31 set assists for the Panthers. Coborn (15), Dean (11) and McCollum (10) hit double digits in digs as the Panthers fell to 6-7.
Alli Skogen (9), Nicole Herbranson (8) and Taylor Peterson (7) combined for 24 kills and Kaitlyn Olson served five aces as the Trojans improved to 12-5.
