Park Rapids' Isaac Overmyer earned all-conference honors for the second year in a row with a runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Championships.
Overmyer clocked an NCAA Division II provisional-qualifying time of 9:08.28 to trail the 8:57.74 by Minnesota State Mankato's Austin Pasch during the NSIC meet at Duluth on May 11. That showing led the University of Minnesota Duluth's men's track and field team to seventh place with 55 points. Overmyer placed third in this event in 2018.
Mankato repeated as conference champs with 219 points while the University of Mary (118), Augustana (90), Sioux Falls (78), Minnesota State University Moorhead (67) and Northern State (59) followed. Rounding out the team standings were Wayne State (53), Concordia-St. Paul (52), Southwest Minnesota State (18) and Minot State (9).
In addition to earning all-conference honors, Overmyer received CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 honors and an NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Scholar Award while earning USTFCCCA All-Region honors. District 7 includes all schools from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the Great American Conference. It is voted on by the members of CoSIDA.
Overmyer also competed in four other outdoor meets for the Bulldogs this season.
At the season-opening Hamline Coed Invitational at St. Paul on April 6, Overmyer won the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 9:26.49 and followed with a runner-up time of 9:27.24 at the Carleton Relays at Northfield on April 20.
