Dudley, Frazier, Rypkema win Subsection 8-29A titles
Andrea Dudley won three events while Makenna Frazier and Jade Rypkema captured individual titles as the Nevis girls track and field team placed third at the Subsection 8-29A meet at Park Rapids' Vern Weekley Field on Thursday, May 23.
Dudley won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.11, the 300 hurdles in 48.53 and the triple jump with a distance of 34 feet, 4.50 inches in leading the Tigers to 93 points in this 10-team meet.
Frazier took first in the 400 dash in 1:04.86 while Rypkema won the 3,200 run in 12:03.54.
Also turning in top finishes for the Nevis girls by placing third were Addison Lindow in the 800 run (2:37.69) and Cole Mastley in the discus (97-8). Mastley also placed fourth in the shot put at 33-1.50 to advance to the Section 8A meet in that event.
Luke DeWulf led the Nevis boys to fifth place with 51 points with runner-up showings in the 100 dash (11.61) and long jump (19-11.50). Jack McNamee was the runner-up in the 1,600 run in 4:48.73 and joined Michael Gunn, George Bjorklund and Evan Pohl on the 4 x 800 relay team that took second in 9:05.84.
East Grand Forks will host the Section 8A meet on Saturday, June 1.
