Addison Lindow and Cora Umthun helped serve the Nevis volleyball team to a 3-1 Northland Conference win at Blackduck on Thursday, Sept. 19.
Lindow served four aces and Umthun served three aces as the Tigers used 15 ace serves to spark a 19-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-17 victory.
Umthun set up 29 kills with Kia Heide’s 24 kills and Makenna Frazier’s 15 kills leading the way. The Tigers overcame 29 hitting errors with 43 kills. Lindow and Sadie Thurner had 15 digs each while Heide (10) and Maggie Carrier (9) combined for 19 more digs as Nevis improved to 2-1 in the conference and 4-8 overall.

Kaylee Baker (11), Skylar Bertram (9) and Brandi Warren (9) combined for 29 kills in leading Bertha-Hewitt to a 3-1 Park Region Conference victory over Menahga on Thursday, Sept. 19.
Warren (19), Kaija Weishalla (18) and Delaney Kapphahn (17) led the way in digs in the Bears’ 18-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-17 win. B-H improved to 1-2 in the conference and 2-5 overall.

Janie Tormanen’s 12 kills, Tara Hendrickson’s eight kills and two ace serves, and Allie Pfeifer’s three ace serves and 23 set assists led Menahga. Rena Pinoniemi (27), Maryn Pinoniemi (20) and Pfeifer (16) combined for 53 digs for the Braves, who had 22 hitting errors in falling to 0-3 in conference matches and 3-5 overall.
