Ashley Pyburn's seven kills and three ace serves led the Nevis volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Thursday night at Walker.
Kia Heide (6) and Andrea Dudley (4) combined for 10 kills while Dudley had 19 set assists in leading the Tigers to a 25-10, 25-19, 25-15 Northland Conference win. Maggie Carrier served two aces for Nevis, which went 67 for 73 in serves with eight aces and had 24 kills with eight hitting errors.
Sadie Thurner had 14 digs while Pyburn (12) and Carrier (10) also had double digits in digs. Dudley (9) and Cora Umthun (8) combined for 17 digs as the Tigers improved to 3-1 in conference matches and 11-5 overall. W-H-A, which had an 11-match winning streak snapped, fell to 4-1 in conference matches and 11-2 overall. Pine River-Backus tops the conference standings with a 4-0 record.
