Kayli Bessler, Marley Mitchell and Mya Stacey combined to serve 14 aces as the Nevis volleyball team coasted to a 3-0 win over Northland Remer at the Tiger Arena on Monday, Nov. 16.
Bessler’s six aces, Mitchell’s four aces and Stacey’s four aces sparked the Tigers’ 25-8, 25-13, 25-10 victory. Nevis served 21 aces in the match.
An ace serve by Bessler, two kills by Makenna Frazier and a kill by Mitchell gave Nevis a 5-0 lead in Set 1 before an ace serve by Stacey capped off six straight service points as the Tigers led 12-1. Mitchell had two kills while Frazier and Ava Isaacson contributed kills during that stretch. Kills by Frazier, Mitchell, Isaacson and Sadie Thurner and an ace serve by Mitchell made it 18-5 before a kill by Frazier and two aces by Bessler closed out the opening set.
Stacey served an ace, Frazier had two kills, and Mitchell and Isaacson had kills as Nevis opened Set 2 with an 8-2 lead. A block by Mitchell and Isaacson, two kills by Addison Lindow, and two ace serves by Mitchell pushed the advantage to 15-7. Ace serves by Thurner and Bessler along with two kills apiece by Lindow and Frazier ended that set.
A pair of ace serves each by Bessler, Stacey and Frazier along with three kills by Frazier and a block by Frazier and Mitchell sparked Nevis to a 13-2 lead in Set 3. A kill by Stacey, an ace serve by Mitchell and three straight aces by Lindow made it 20-6 before kills by Lyra Luebbert and Frazier and an ace serve by Luebbert ended the match.

Frazier pounded down 14 of the Tigers’ 29 kills while Stacey had 23 set assists. Mitchell (5) and Lindow (4) combined for nine kills while Maggie Carrier led the way with four digs as Nevis improved to 5-2. Northland fell to 0-6.
