A 14-run inning and three runs in extra innings helped the Nevis baseball team open the Northland Conference schedule with a pair of wins.
The Tigers scored 14 times in the first inning to spark a 21-4 victory over Kelliher-Northome last Tuesday and prevailed 8-7 in nine innings against Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Thursday.
Victor Mastley went 3 for 4 with two runs while Brett Byer and Courtland Chase both went 2 for 3 with two runs and three RBI to lead the Tigers past Kelliher. Gavin Becker went 2 for 6 with two runs and two RBI while Austin Becker scored four runs. Andrew Dudley, Dustin McGee and Gavin Hitchcock also scored two runs each as the Tigers finished with 14 hits.
Gavin Becker pitched the first three innings and earned the win with Dudley and Kevin Hale finishing up.
Dudley went 3 for 4 with four RBI as the Tigers prevailed in extra innings against W-H-A.

Nevis jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, took a 5-4 lead in the sixth, led 7-5 in the eighth before scoring the winning run in the ninth.
Mastley went 4 for 6 with three runs and Byer went 2 for 3 with two runs as the Tigers finished with 13 hits.
Austin Becker allowed seven runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts over the first eight innings for the win while Byer picked up the save by pitching a scoreless ninth.
The Tigers improved to 5-1 overall while Kelliher fell to 0-3 in conference play and W-H-A fell to 2-1 in the conference and 3-1 overall.
