Perham/New York Mills won two of three matches that went the distance to prevail with a 5-2 Mid-State Conference victory over the Park Rapids girls tennis team at the Depot Courts on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
Abby Morris and Macy Goochey coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Trinity Covington and Jane Gudmundson at No. 1 doubles while Rachael Herman rallied for a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Mallory Belka at No. 1 singles to lead the Panthers.
The Yellowjackets prevailed in straight sets in three matches with Avery Malone defeating Mickey Clark 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles; Kaia Anderson defeating Shailyn Hayes 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles; and the duo of Addicyn Zimmerman and Eva Vorderbruggen defeating Emmy Goochey and Abby Runyan 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3 doubles for a 3-2 advantage.
LaVonne Lindberg rallied for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 win over Morgan Koppelman at No. 2 singles while Maya Radniecki and Karrisa Muench rallied for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 win over Natalie Harvey and Emily Schulz at No. 2 doubles to give Perham/New York Mills the win.
Kate Dravis and Ella Ehler prevailed 7-5, 1-6, 10-7 in an exhibition doubles match for the Panthers.
The loss dropped the Panthers to 1-2 in conference meets and 5-3 overall.
