Panthers roll past Cardinals

A 6-1 win over Staples-Motley Thursday afternoon at the Depot Courts gave the Park Rapids girls tennis team a three-match winning streak against Mid-State Conference opponents.

Natalie Kinkel posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles; Abby Morris rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles; and Kendra Coborn prevailed by winning a third-set tiebreaker in a 7-5, 1-6, 10-5 win at No. 3 singles. Mickey Clark dropped a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 decision at No. 4 singles.

Chloe Johnson and Jada Renneberg posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles; Gracie Eischens and Rachael Herman rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles; and Madison Johnson and Meagan Powers prevailed 7-5, 6-1 at No. 3 doubles.

The win gave the Panthers a 3-1 record in conference matches and a 7-5 overall mark in dual meets.

Park Rapids' conference match against Wadena-Deer Creek scheduled for Sept. 4 was postponed. That dual meet will be made up on Oct. 4 at Wadena starting at 4:30 p.m.

No. 2 singles: Abby Morris, PR, over Rose Han 6-1, 6-1.

No. 3 singles: Kendra Coborn, PR, over Jenna Dvorak 7-5, 1-6, 10-5.

No. 4 singles: Haley Cichos, SM, over Mickey Clark 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.

No. 1 doubles: Chloe Johnson/Jada Renneberg, PR, over Tasha Achermann/Abbie Digiovanni 6-3, 6-4.

No. 2 doubles: Gracie Eischens/Rachael Herman, PR, over Tiffany Achermann/Torii Nienow 6-0, 6-2.

No. 3 doubles: Madison Johnson/Meagan Powers, PR, over Elizabeth Digiovanni/Georgia Krachten 7-5, 6-1.
