The Hubbard County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is now taking pre-orders for tree seedlings scheduled for pick-up on May 3-5.
There are a wide variety of tree and shrub seedlings available with a minimum order of 25 per species.
For the landowner who may want a smaller number of trees, there is also a wild berry packet available containing 10 trees and shrubs. Orders may be placed until April; however, quantities are limited, so ordering sooner will ensure getting the species you want.
The SWCD has been selling trees for conservation since the 1970s, averaging 15,000 tree sales per year. Planting trees has many benefits such as lowering heating or air conditioning costs, removing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen into the air, and benefiting wildlife by providing shelter, nesting areas and food.
An order form may be downloaded from the SWCD website at www.hubbardswcd.org under "Products" or picked up at the office at 212 2nd St. West, Park Rapids.
