Benny Lyons scored the game-tying goal and set up the game-winning goal in the final five minutes as St. Paul Johnson rallied for a 2-1 win over the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team Saturday night at the Ted O. Johnson Ice Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Connor Kennedy gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead with a goal at the 2:56 mark of the second period. Kiefer Miller and Chase Brand assisted on that power-play goal.
That lead held up until Lyons tied the game at the 12:00 mark of the third period. Lyons set up Justin Howell for the game-winning goal with just 25 seconds to play in regulation.
Goalie Ben Naugle made 17 saves for the Panthers, who went 1 for 7 on the power play in falling to 1-2 on the season. The Governors, who were outshot 23-19, improved to 4-0-1.
