Rilee Michaelson threw a perfect game as the Park Rapids fastpitch softball team maintained a perfect record this season.

The Panthers posted three more wins during the Park Rapids Invitational at the Area High School field on Saturday, May 4 with a 5-4 comeback victory over Roseau, a 13-3 five-inning victory over Lake of the Woods and a 21-0 four-inning win over Crookston. The highlight of the tournament was Michaelson facing the minimum 12 batters against Crookston. Michaelson struck out four batters and retired the other eight batters on groundouts for a perfect game.

Park Rapids kept its undefeated streak going by opening the tournament with a dramatic rally in the bottom of the seventh inning against Roseau.

Roseau used four hits to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning before the Panthers made it 3-2 in the third on Abby Morris' single, Natalie Kinkel's walk, Kendra Coborn's sacrifice bunt and Kaisa Coborn's RBI single. After Roseau scored an unearned run in the sixth for a 4-2 lead, Kendra Coborn singled and scored on Michaelson's grounder to cut the gap to 4-3 in the bottom of that inning. Park Rapids pushed across the winning runs in the bottom of the seventh when Shailyn Pachel led off with a single and scored when Kinkel reached on an error and scored the winning run on an error.

Kaisa Coborn went 2 for 3 as the Panthers were held to only six hits. Michaelson went the distance, allowing seven hits and striking out six.

In the win over Lake of the Woods, the Panthers followed a four-run second with a five-run third in coasting to the win.

A single by Kendra Coborn, Kaisa Coborn's RBI single and Kylee Pachel's RBI double gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead in the first before singles by Katelyn Weaver, Ellie Ulvin, Kendra Coborn and Kaisa Coborn made it 6-0 in the second. A bunt single by Ulvin, an RBI single by Kendra Coborn, three walks and an error extended the lead to 11-1 in the third. Morris singled and scored on Kinkel's RBI double in the fourth before back-to-back doubles by Kaisa Coborn and Kylee Pachel ended the game in the fifth.

Kendra Coborn (3 for 4, three runs), Kaisa Coborn (3 for 4, three runs) and Ulvin (2 for 2, two runs) led the Panthers' 13-hit attack. Michaelson allowed one unearned run with four strikeouts over four innings before Allison Offerdahl struck out the side and gave up two runs in the fifth.

Michaelson dominated on the mound and the Panthers pounded out 22 hits to defeat Crookston in the finale.

RBI doubles by Kylee Pachel, Weaver and Morris and an RBI single by Michaelson gave the Panthers a 5-0 lead in the first before a double by Kinkel, a two-run triple by Kaisa Coborn and a two-run home run by Kylee Pachel made it 9-0 in the second. A12-run fourth inning ended the game as Weaver's two-run double, Morris' two-run single, Kinkel's RBI double, Kendra Coborn's two-run double, Kylee Pachel's RBI single, Shailyn Pachel's two-run single and Weaver's RBI single sparked that inning.

Kylee Pachel (4 for 4, four runs, four RBI), Michaelson (3 for 3), Weaver (3 for 4, four RBI) and Morris (2 for 4, three RBI) led a balanced offensive attack for the Panthers.

Panthers top Perham

The Panthers improved to 14-0 on the season by breaking open a close game for a 10-5 victory at Perham on Tuesday, May 7.

The game was tied at 4-4 when a double by Kendra Coborn, a two-run homer by Kaisa Coborn and a solo homer by Kylee Pachel gave Park Rapids a 7-4 lead in the fourth. Kinkel's RBI triple, Kaisa Coborn's RBI single and Kylee Pachel's RBI single pushed the lead to 10-4 in the fourth.

Morris' RBI bunt single in the second and back-to-back doubles by Kaisa Coborn and Kylee Pachel and singles by Shailyn Pachel and Weaver in the third gave the Panthers a 4-1 lead.

Kaisa Coborn (4 for 4, three runs, three RBI) and Kylee Pachel (3 for 3, two runs, three RBI) sparked the Panthers' 15-hit attack. Michaelson allowed only one earned run on nine hits and three walks while striking out four.
