Braves split pair with OTC, Pillager
Splitting Park Region Conference doubleheaders with Pillager and Ottertail Central gave the Menahga fastpitch softball team a 3-8 record.
Jadeyn Dissmore drove in three runs in leading the Braves to a 5-4 win over Pillager in the first game on Thursday, May 2. Rachel Marjamaa picked up the win. Pillager salvaged the split with a 9-3 win in the second game as Aimee Lake led Menahga's offense with two hits.
Menahga defeated Ottertail Central 14-4 in the first game of a doubleheader on April 30 with Lake (3 for 4, 1 run), Jessica Pietila (3 for 4 with a double and a triple, one run, three RBI), Rena Pinoniemi (2 for 3 with a triple, three runs, one RBI), Jamie Erno (three runs) and Madi Marjamaa (two runs) leading the offense. Rachel Marjamaa thew a six-hitter with five strikeouts. OTC scored six runs in the first inning to win the second game 6-3. Lela Peterson and Madi Marjamaa drove in runs for the Braves.
Menahga trailed Nevis 4-1 before rallying for a 15-4 victory on April 26 by scoring twice in the fourth, four times in the fifth, three times in the sixth and five times in the seventh. Alyssa Peterson (2 for 4, three runs, three RBI), Pietila (1 for 4, two runs, two RBI), Dissmore (2 for 4, two runs, three RBI), Pinoniemi (2 for 4, one run, two RBI), Madi Marjamaa (2 for 4, one run, two RBI) and Alli Anderson (2 for 3, two runs) led the Braves' 14-hit attack. Rachel Marjamaa threw a seven-hitter for Menahga's first win after starting the season with a 0-6 record.
