Park Rapids area residents are reminded that there will be lots of snowmobilers in town this weekend for the United States X-Country Snowmobile Racing circuit.
The Heartland 106 race is today (Saturday) and Sunday, March 2 and 3.
Saturday's race will run along Long Lake and into the Hubbard Prairie. Sunday's leg will traverse Hubbard County 4 from the former Silver Star City on Highway 34 through Emmaville and to a loop south of Lake George.
The race will start at 9 a.m. and finish around 4 p.m. both days. An awards ceremony will be at about 5 p.m. Sunday at Bogey's.
People are invited to watch the race along the route or head to the former Silver Star City location on Highway 34, which is the start/finish line and Emmaville, which will be the fuel stop on Sunday.

A 2013 Arctic Cat Z-120 Christian Brothers-sponsored kids snowmobile will be on hand from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday off the rear deck of Bogey's for kids ages 4-11.
Arctic Cat will also have the factory race support semi with all the latest in snowmobile gear and parts.
People should be prepared for potential detours or delays and are encouraged to avoid Highway 34 on Sunday. Locals could drive on County Road 107 to bypass the 34 route.
County Road 4 route will be closed to anyone except racers on Sunday. Snowmobilers will still be able to get to Emmaville but will need to come from the west.
Hubbard County Sheriff's deputies will be closing major highways briefly to allow the racers to pass safely.
The sponsors said if County 4 driveways need some repair after the race to pick up snow mounds, it will be done.
