Sebeka overcame early and late deficits in Set 1 to spark a 3-0 sweep over the Park Rapids volleyball team at the Area High School gym on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
The Trojans rallied from 7-0 and 24-22 deficits in the opening set for a 28-26, 25-16, 25-16 victory.
Kate Aukes served seven points with the aid of kills by Quinn Hunter and Riley Pike as the Panthers jumped out to a 7-0 lead in Set 1. A tip by Marriyam Ejaz and two ace serves by Abby Felts kept Park Rapids in front 13-9 before the Trojans rallied to take a 14-13 lead. A winning tip by Pike on Ejaz’s serve put the Panthers in front 16-14 before another tip by Pike and a combined block by Hunter and Scholz made it 18-17. After Sebeka took a 21-19 lead, kills by Hunter and Chloe Tretbar, a pair of kills by Aukes, and a combined block by Tretbar and Felts gave the Panthers a 24-22 edge. A kill by Felts gave Park Rapids a 25-24 lead before the Trojans went on a 4-1 run to win the opening set.
A tip by Pike and an ace serve by Scholz gave the Panthers a 7-5 lead to start Set 2 before Sebeka claimed a 10-7 advantage. A kill by Pike and an ace serve by Keely Peterson cut the gap to 13-12 before the Trojans went on a 10-2 run for a 23-14 lead. Felts served an ace to make it 23-16 before Sebeka closed out that set.
Sebeka opened Set 3 with a 7-0 run before kills by Pike, Felts and Tretbar made it 12-6. Two kills apiece by Felts and Aukes, an ace serve by Ejaz, and kills by Pike and Tretbar kept Park Rapids within 24-16 before the Trojans ended the match.

Felts served three aces, Peterson served two aces, Aukes served eight points and Scholz served six points for the Panthers, who served eight aces in the match. Pike led the way with eight kills and Aukes had five kills as Park Rapids had 23 kills to go along with 20 hitting errors. Pike (11) and Ejaz (9) combined for 20 set assists.
Defensively, Pike and Scholz had 17 digs each while Peterson and Aukes had 16 digs apiece as the Panthers fell to 1-5 on the season.
Sebeka improved to 2-1.

Cardinals sweep
Alexandria relied on 33 kills, 13 ace serves and 12 blocks to spark a 3-0 win over the Panthers at Alexandria on Monday, Sept. 13.
Tessa McGrane and Addie Boesl served three aces each, Charlotte Lempka had nine kills and six blocks, and Hadley Thul had eight kills and four blocks in the Cardinals’ 25-12, 25-13, 25-23 victory.
Pike served four aces and 11 points while tallying six kills to lead Park Rapids’ offense, which had 13 kills and 17 attack errors in the match. Peterson served two aces and Aukes served nine points. Peterson (10), Aukes (9), Pike (7), Scholz (7) and Ejaz (6) combined for 39 of the Panthers’ 42 digs.
Alexandria, which was rated No. 10 in the latest state Class AAA poll, improved to 6-0 with their fourth straight sweep.
