Nevis' Bryon Schuldt capped off his senior season by winning his fifth consecutive state medal in the 3,200-meter run.
Schuldt finished third in that race during Friday's state Class A track and field meet at Hamline University with a time of 9:29.11. Foley junior Charlie Lawrence was first in 9:22.92 and Proctor junior Matt Welch was second in 9:23.44.
Schuldt also competed in the 1,600 run, finishing 11th in 4:30.88 during Saturday's finals. Blake senior Brandon Clark won the state title in 4:20.08.
Nevis sophomore Jordan Feder also competed at the state meet, placing 15th in the high jump by clearing 6 feet during Saturday's finals. Waseca senior Yves Spies cleared 6 feet, 7 inches to claim the state title.
Schuldt competed in six state track meets, beginning with an 18th-place time of 10:34.30 in 2007. In 2008, Schuldt won his first state medal by placing seventh in 9:56.41. As a freshman in 2009, Schuldt finished third in 9:41.32. In 2010, Schuldt took eighth in 9:43.50. Last year, Schuldt finished ninth in 9:43.59.

Schuldt won the Section 8A title in 9:58.29 to enter state as the No. 9 seed out of 16 qualifiers.
In the 1,600 run, Schuldt was seeded ninth out of 17 qualifiers after winning the section title in 4:28.50. Schuldt finished 14th at last year's state meet with a 4:33.01.
Feder qualified for his first state meet as the section runner-up with a height of 6-2. Feder was seeded 10th out of 18 qualifiers.
UNC's Korvela earns medal
United North Central freshman Andrea Korvela earned a state medal by placing seventh in the 800 run.
Korvela, who was the No. 14 seed out of 18 qualifiers, advanced to the finals by placing second overall during Friday's preliminaries with a 2:21.75. La Crescent junior Taylor Gibson had the fastest preliminary time of 2:21.67.
In Saturday's finals, Korvela finished seventh in 2:23.26. La Crescent junior Katie Shepardson won the state title in 2:20.16.
Korvela earned her first state trip by winning the Section 6A title in 2:23.95.
