Rypkema leads pack at Perham Invitational

Nevis finishes 18th in girls meet, 12th in boys meet

Nevis’ Jade Rypkema led the 153-runner field to capture the title at the Perham Invitational at Arvig Park on Thursday, Oct. 3.

Rypkema completed the 5K course in 18:15 as the Nevis girls finished 18th in the 29-team meet with 461 points. Rounding out the Tigers’ team score were Molly Lindow (114th in 23:14), Paige Schuft (121st in 23:31), Emily Funk (126th in 23:41) and Lydia Bjorklund (142nd in 27:07).

Park Rapids fielded an incomplete team with Holly Johnson (97th in 22:40) and Julia Harmon (101st in 22:47) competing.

Lakeville South won the team title with 83 points while Perham was second with 90 points.

In the boys meet, Nevis finished 12th with 338 points while Park Rapids placed 15th with 478 points.

Jack McNamee (29th in 17:02), Evan Pohl (46th in 17:21), Michael Gunn (64th in 17:46), George Bjorklund (81st in 18:07) and Reese Mowell (118th in 19:06) comprised Nevis’ team score.

Leading the Panthers were Darryl Thompson-Etter (73rd in 18:01), Skylar Hagen (89th in 18:21), Sam Warne (94th in 18:26), Kolby Brandt (102nd in 18:39) and Kaleb Stearns (120th in 19:07).

Brandon O’Hara led the 213-runner field with a winning 5K time of 15:55 in leading Perham to the team title with 40 points. Bemidji was second with 66 points.
