SEBEKA – Avory Haman’s 11 kills led Sebeka to a 3-0 win over the Park Rapids volleyball team on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Annika Pulju had 17 digs as the Trojans posted a 25-22, 25-20, 25-20 victory in their home opener.
Riley Pike (8), Halle Eischens (7), Alison Scholz (7) and Anna Yliniemi (6) combined for 28 kills while Yliniemi served two aces for Park Rapids. Pike had 18 set assists, Erika Sellin had 20 set assists, Scholz had 11 digs and Yliniemi had 10 digs as the Panthers fell to 1-4 on the season.
The win lifted Sebeka’s record to 1-2.

Lakers sweep Panthers
PARK RAPIDS – Grace Gunderson’s 15 kills powered Detroit Lakes to a 3-0 sweep over the Park Rapids volleyball team in the Mid-State Conference opener for both teams at the Area High School gym on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Helena Daggett contributed seven kills, Ava Jones tallied 30 set assists, and Maddy Bellanger joined Grace Gunderson, Jones and Jalynn Gunderson with four digs each as the Lakers posted a 25-17, 25-22, 25-19 victory.
Ace serves by Chloe Tretbar, Abby Felts and Anna Yliniemi and two kills by Tretbar kept the Panthers within 16-15 in Set 1 before Detroit Lakes went on a 9-2 run to claim the opening set.
Tretbar had a kill and teamed with Riley Pike for a block as Park Rapids jumped out to a 9-8 lead in Set 2. A tip by Tretbar, a block by Natalie Viloria, and a pair of kills by Felt led to a 14-14 tie. Kills by Tretbar, Viloria and Yliniemi tied the set at 19-19 and a kill by Viloria made it 21-21. Detroit Lakes went on a 4-1 run to close out that set.
The Lakers took control to start Set 3 by building a 12-2 advantage. Erika Sellin and Felts served aces and Pike had a kill and served two aces as Park Rapids cut the gap to 17-12. After a kill by Halle Eischens, Detroit Lakes extended its lead to 23-15. Alison Scholz and Felts served aces to make it 24-19 before the Lakers closed out the match.
Felts served three aces, Tretbar had eight kills, Pike had 16 set assists and Yliniemi had 12 digs to lead the Panthers.
The win lifted the Lakers’ record to 4-0 while Park Rapids fell to 1-3.
