Park Rapids and Menahga will open at home while Nevis will hit the road as the section fastpitch softball tournaments begin on Monday, May 23.
Park Rapids (9-9) received the No. 4 seed in the North for the Section 8AA tournament and will host No. 5 Warroad (7-10) in a first-round game at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24. The winner of that game advances to the next round at Thief River Falls at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, while the loser is done for the season. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for students.
In the other opening-round Section 8AA North games on Tuesday, May 24, No. 1 Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (14-3) hosts No. 8 Red Lake (2-3), No. 2 Thief River Falls (11-5) hosts No. 7 Crookston (1-12), and No. 3 Roseau (10-10) hosts No. 6 East Grand Forks (2-10).
In the Section 8AA South bracket, No. 1 Frazee (14-4) hosts the winner between No. 8 Pelican Rapids (2-14) and No. 9 Ottertail Central (3-13), No. 2 Hawley (12-4) hosts No. 7 Perham (5-14), No. 3 Barnesville (10-8) hosts No. 6 Wadena-Deer Creek (9-10), and No. 4 Breckenridge (6-8 hosts No. 5 Fergus Falls (5-11).
Menahga (10-9) received the No. 2 seed in the Section 5A East bracket and will host No. 7 Cass Lake-Bena (1-12) while Nevis (8-8) received the No. 5 seed and will travel to No. 4 Pine River-Backus (8-7) for 4:30 p.m. games on Monday, May 23. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

Walker-Hackensack-Akeley (9-3) received the No. 1 seed and a bye. No. 3 Sebeka (7-10) hosts No. 6 Laporte (3-10) in the other opening-round game.
The top seeds will host the next round with 4 p.m. games on Tuesday, May 24. The tournament continues on Thursday, May 26.
Mille Lacs (17-1) and Hill City/Northland (9-3) are the top seeds for the Section 5A East tournament.
