PARK RAPIDS – The Park Rapids fastpitch softball team overcame 11 errors by pounding out 22 hits in sweeping a Mid-State Conference doubleheader from Detroit Lakes at the Area High School field on Monday, May 16.

A 10-hit attack sparked a 14-4 win in five innings in the first game while the Panthers followed with 12 hits to complete the sweep with an 11-5 victory in the second game.

In the opener, a single by Abby Morris, an RBI double by Tori Weaver, two errors and a two-run single by Allison Offerdahl gave Park Rapids a 4-0 lead in the first inning. An error, Offerdahl’s RBI single and Avery Cederstrom’s RBI double made it 6-0 in the third.

After the Lakers took advantage of two errors to score four runs in the fourth, Park Rapids scored eight runs in the bottom of that inning. Six errors along with Nora Cederstrom’s two-run double and RBI doubles by Morris and Tretbar concluded the scoring as this game was ended after five innings via the 10-run rule.

Morris (2 for 4), Tretbar (2 for 4) and Offerdahl (2 for 3, three RBI) led the offense with Morris, Weaver, Tretbar, Kasen Girtz and Nora Cederstrom scoring two runs apiece. Tretbar picked up the win, allowing one earned run on eight hits with five strikeouts over four innings.

The Panthers extended the lead to 11-2 in the sixth behind three walks, an error, singles by Nora Cederstrom, Allie Rowland and Morris, and a sacrifice fly by Offerdahl.

Morris (4 for 5, three runs) and Weaver (2 for 2) led the offense as eight different players contributed a hit. Offerdahl started and earned the win, allowing two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts over the first six innings.
