Softball: Park Rapids 18U team splits with Perham

Park Rapids follows a 4-3 win with a 7-4 loss.

PARK RAPIDS – Mack Raddatz’s RBI single in the seventh inning gave the Park Rapids 18U fastpitch softball team a walk-off 4-3 win over Perham in the first game of a doubleheader on June 21.

Perham earned a split by rebounding for a 7-4 victory in the second game.

In the opener, Aili Anderson led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Raddatz followed with the game-winning hit with one out.

Singles by Nora Cederstrom and Allie Rowland led to a run in the first inning and singles by Rowland and Ali Roberts produced another run in the third. Avery Cederstrom’s RBI single tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth.

Rowland (2-4), Raddatz (1-1), Roberts (1-1), Katryn Smith (1-1), Nora Cederstrom (1-2), Vivian Shepersky (1-2), Anderson (1-2), Rachel Ulvin (1-2) and Avery Cederstrom (1-2) led Park Rapids’ offense. Rowland, Raddatz and Nora Cederstrom scored the other runs while Rowland, Raddatz, Shepersky and Avery Cederstrom each stole a base. Rylan Fogarty started and allowed three runs on four hits and four walks with four strikeouts in four innings. Raddatz picked up the win in relief, not allowing a hit and walking one with five strikeouts in three innings.


Smith (1-1), Chloe Tretbar (1-1 one run), Avery Cederstrom (1-1), Shepersky (1-1), Ulvin (1-1, one run) and Roberts (1-3) led Park Rapids’ offense in the second game. Smith, Avery Cederstrom and Shepersky stole bases. Joie Koll started and took the loss, giving up six hits and four walks while striking out five in four innings. Tretbar allowed one hit and one walk with one strikeout in the fifth.

The split gave Park Rapids a 4-2 record this spring. Park Rapids travels to Lake Park to play Lake Park-Audubon and Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Tuesday (June 28) before ending the regular season by hosting Hawley in a doubleheader on July 5.

18U splits at Frazee

FRAZEE – Park Rapids split games at Frazee on June 14, following an 8-7 loss with a 14-5 victory.

In the opener, singles by Nora Cederstrom and Kilea Persons led to a run in the first while three walks, an error, and RBI singles by Ulvin and Persons sparked a four-run third inning. Singles by Rowland, Ulvin and Nora Cederstrom produced the final two runs in the fifth.

Persons (3-3, two RBI), Ulvin (2-3), Nora Cederstrom (2-4), Rowland (1-3, two stolen bases) and Roberts (1-3, one RBI) led Park Rapids’ offense. Roberts took the loss on the mound.

An eight-run first inning sparked Park Rapids to the win in the second game.

Seven walks, singles by Nora Cederstrom and Persons, a two-run single by Roberts, and an RBI single by Tretbar sparked the outburst in the first inning. Nora Cederstrom’s single produced a run in the second while five walks, Fogarty’s RBI single and Lexi Graff’s two-run single led to the final five runs in the third.

Nora Cederstrom (3-3, two runs, one RBI), Tretbar (1-2, two runs, one RBI), Persons (1-1, two runs), Roberts (1-1), Fogarty (1-1, one run, one RBI) and Graff (1-1, two RBI) led Park Rapids’ offense as Tretbar earned the win.


Spikes, JT Builders and Tretbar Construction topped the final regular season standings.
