MENAHGA – Leah Weaver blasted three home runs in sparking the Menahga fastpitch softball team to a Park Region Conference doubleheader sweep over Sebeka on Thursday, April 28.
Weaver hit a pair of homers in leading the Braves to a 23-3 win in the first game and belted another homer as Menahga completed the sweep with a 10-7 victory in the second game.
In the opener, Joie Koll’s two-run double and Journie Schoon’s RBI single led to four runs in the first inning before Menahga sent 16 batters to the plate and erupted for 12 runs in the second. Aili Anderson’s RBI single, Weaver’s two-run double, Schoon’s two-run single, Elise Torola’s RBI single, Anderson’s two-run double and Weaver’s three-run homer sparked that inning. Anna Pietila’s RBI single, Anderson’s two-run single and Weaver’s two-run homer produced the final seven runs in the third.
Weaver (3 for 4, three runs, eight RBI), Anderson (3 for 3, two runs, five RBI), Koll (2 for 4, two RBI), Schoon (2 for 3, two runs, three RBI), Janelle Hendrickson (2 for 2, four runs), Pietila (four runs), Michaela Skoog (2 for 3) and Erica Johnson (2 for 4) paced the Braves’ 20-hit attack. Koll started and earned the win.
In the second game, Weaver’s three-run homer and Schoon’s two-run double sparked a five-run third inning. Menahga scored two more runs in the fifth before Hendrickson’s two-run double highlighted a three-run sixth.

Hendrickson (2 for 4, two runs), Koll (2 for 4) and Torola (2 for 4) led Menahga’s offense, which finished with 10 hits. Weaver started and picked up the win.
Lake Park-Audubon defeated the Braves 12-2 in five innings on Friday, April 29.
Menahga was held to three hits with Koll’s two-run homer in the fourth producing the two runs. Pietila singled in the third and Johnson singled in the fourth. Weaver reached on an error before Koll’s blast.
Koll started and took the loss as the Braves fell to 2-2 on the season.
