PARK RAPIDS – Despite falling to 1-5 in dual meets, the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis gymnastics team continues to turn in solid performances.
The Panthers received their second highest team score of the season in a 138.70 to 126.225 loss to Bemidji at the Area High School gym on Tuesday, Jan. 25. Park Rapids had a 129.50 in its last outing at the Moorhead Invitational.
Halle Landstrom’s 8.70, Emma Berghuis’ 8.30, Morgan Koppelman’s 8.30 and Lexi Graff’s 8.10 gave the Panthers a 33.45 team score in vault to open the meet. Shailyn Hayes added an 8.05. Bemidji’s Lauren Berg took first with a 9.25.

On uneven parallel bars, Koppelman’s 7.55, Landstrom’s 6.90, Ally Holmer’s 6.70 and Grace Officer’s 6.40 resulted in a 27.55 team score. Whitney Seifert received a 6.30 as Bemidji’s Tatum Offerdahl led the field with a 9.25.
The Panthers received a 31.075 on balance beam behind Landstrom’s 8.50, Hayes’ 7.825, Koppelman’s 7.75 and Berghuis’ 7.00. Holmer chipped in a 6.55. Berg received a 9.00 to finish first.

Landstrom’s runner-up 8.90 paced the Panthers to a 34.15 on floor exercise. Rounding out the team score were Koppelman’s 8.60, Berghuis’ 8.35 and Hayes’ 8.30. Officer led off with a 7.40. Madysen Schmidt took first with a 9.35 for Bemidji.
Schmidt captured the all-around title with a 34.775 while Landstrom was fourth with a 33.00 and Koppelman finished fifth with a 32.20.
Bemidji, which was rated No. 6 in the latest state Class AA poll with a 141.69 average, posted scores of 35.45 in vault, 34.75 on both beam and floor, and 33.75 on bars.
In the junior varsity meet, Bemidji posted a 121.90 to 109.70 victory.
