Girls Swimming and Diving: Park Rapids wins triangular meet at Bemidji

BEMIDJI – Addison Lauwagie played a role in four of the team’s six winning times as the Panthers won a triangular meet at Bemidji on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Park Rapids compiled 515 points to finish ahead of Bemidji’s 373 points and Detroit Lakes’ 359 points.

Allie Rowland finished second in diving with 316.70 points to open this triangular meet.

Maya Deshayes, Massie Lee, Mylee Edevold and Emma Vrieze won the 200 medley relay in 2:04.55 with Claire Voigt, McKenzie Himango, Nora Cederstrom and Whitney Seifert taking third in 2:12.41.

Avery Schueller’s 2:11.27 and Lizzie Seifert’s 2:12.02 resulted in a 2-3 finish in the 200 freestyle while Lee (in 2:33.28) and Deshayes (in 2:33.73) posted a 3-4 showing in the 200 individual medley. Lauwagie won the 50 freestyle in 26.09 with Vrieze taking second in 26.16 and Whitney Seifert finishing fourth in 28.36.

Lauwagie also won the 100 butterfly in 1:04.09 while Edevold was third in 1:10.82. In the 100 freestyle, Vrieze’s 58.06, Schueller’s 58.98 and Himango’s 1:03.18 led to a 2-3-4 finish. The Panthers clocked a 1-2 finish in the 500 freestyle with Lizzie Seifert leading the way with a 5:57.51 and Deshayes following in 5:58.55.

Park Rapids won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:47.06 with Lauwagie, Schueller, Lee and Vrieze comprising that relay team. Edevold, Himango, Whitney Seifert and Lizzie Seifert took third in 1:52.99.

Amelia Bagstad’s 1:11.65 and Voigt’s 1:14.14 gave Park Rapids a 3-4 showing in the 100 backstroke before Lee’s 1:19.36, Gabi Shepersky’s 1:20.32 and Cederstrom’s 1:20.46 resulted in a 2-3-4 effort in the 100 breaststroke. Lauwagie, Deshayes, Lizzie Seifert and Schueller closed the meet by winning the 400 freestyle relay in 3:57.37.
