CROOKSTON – Double-doubles by Logan Jackson and Nick Michaelson led the Park Rapids boys basketball team to a 71-59 win at Crookston on Feb. 8.
Park Rapids jumped out to an 18-3 lead before a dunk by Michaelson capped a 13-0 run to extend the margin to 39-13. The Panthers led 39-20 at the half.
An 11-2 run made it 57-34 before Crookston outscored the Panthers’ reserves 25-14 the rest of the way in this game between Section 8AA teams.
Jackson had 18 points, 16 rebounds and six assists while Michaelson added 11 points, 11 rebounds and four steals as Park Rapids improved to 4-3 in section games. Mason Yliniemi (9), Noah Larson (8), Noah Morris (7), Parker Harmon (7), Zach Van Batavia (6) and Isaiah Olson (5) rounded out the scoring for the Panthers, who went 6 for 20 on 3-pointers and turned the ball over 24 times.
Jack Garmen’s 24 points paced the Pirates, who fell to 1-9 in section games and 3-15 overall.

Lakers defeat Panthers
PARK RAPIDS – Michaelson’s double-double led the Panthers in a 70-60 Mid-State Conference loss to Detroit Lakes at the Area High School gym on Feb. 4.
Michaelson had 25 points and 17 rebounds to go along with six blocked shots and five steals. Larson and Jackson had three assists each.
