Boys Basketball: Fast start sets the tone in Nevis' win over Laporte

The Tigers led 64-16 at the half in a 105-33 Northland Conference victory.

NEVIS – A quick start set the tone for a dominating performance in Nevis’ 105-33 Northland Conference boys basketball victory over Laporte at the Tiger Arena on Thursday, Feb. 3.

JohnPaul Benson (20 points, 10 rebounds) and Ty Warrington (10 points, 14 assists) tallied double-doubles while Eddie Kramer (23) and Cain Mitchell (17) also scored in double figures for the Tigers, who led 64-16 at the half. Mitchell added six rebounds and four steals, Devan Lindow had eight assists and six steals, Austin Ahrendt had four rebounds, Kramer had three assists, and Tyler Lindow had three steals as Nevis improved to 9-0 in the conference and 17-2 overall.

Laporte fell to 0-9 in conference play and 0-14 overall.

“Laporte was down a couple of starters, which made the outcome of this game pretty lopsided, but it gave us a chance to get every guy in the scorebook and to reward our bench guys with a lot of playing time,” said Nevis head coach Scott Kramer, whose team defeated Laporte 78-34 on Dec. 17. “We started the game 24-0 and then started rotating guys early.”
