MENAHGA – Menahga’s defense held Bertha-Hewitt to 10% shooting in the first half in posting a 50-36 Park Region Conference boys basketball victory on Tuesday, Jan. 25.
Three baskets by Ryan Tolkkinen, a layup and a 3-pointer by Connor Korvela, two layups by Knaylor Howard, and layups by Christian Johnson and Alec Aho gave the Braves a 25-7 lead at the intermission. B-H made just 3 of 30 shots in the first half.
A layup by Aho and two layups by Tolkkinen pushed Menahga’s advantage to 33-7. A layup, a three-point play and a jumper by Wurdock, a 3-pointer by Howard, a jumper by Aho, a layup by Brayden Aho and a basket off a rebound by Blaise Anderson capped off the win.
Tolkkinen’s 12 points and Alec Aho’s double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds paced the Braves. Wurdock had seven rebounds and five assists, Bodie Berttunen grabbed seven rebounds, and Korvela had three steals as Menahga improved to 5-3 in the conference and 8-6 overall.
Brady Rach scored 10 points for the Bears, who went 2 for 20 on 3-pointers in falling to 1-7 in conference games and 2-14 overall.
