PARK RAPIDS – Four pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter in leading the Park Rapids baseball team to a 14-0 five-inning victory over Hill City/Northland at the Area High School field on Tuesday, May 10.
Isaiah Olson, Jaxson Lund, Matt Johanning and Ethan Eischens combined to allow two walks while recording 10 strikeouts in the win. The Panthers ended this game early via the 10-run rule by scoring five runs in the first inning and nine runs in the second.
A single by Lund and walks to Olson, Eischens and Mason Yliniemi along with three wild pitches gave the Panthers a 3-0 lead. RBI singles by Nick Michaelson and Noah Morris made it 5-0.
Park Rapids sent 15 batters to the plate in the second. Lund walked and Eischens was hit by a pitch to set up RBI doubles by Yliniemi and Sawyer Torkelson. After Noah Larson’s RBI single and Morris’ two-run single, another error and Yliniemi’s RBI single concluded the scoring.
Yliniemi (2 for 2, two runs, two RBI), Michaelson (2 for 3, two runs) and Morris (2 for 2, three RBI) led the Panthers’ 11-hit attack. Eischens and Eli Burton also scored two runs apiece as Park Rapids scored four runs on wild pitches and three runs on errors.

Olson started and earned the win, striking out four while facing only six batters in the first two innings. Lund struck out all three batters he faced in the third, Johanning walked one and struck out one in the fourth, and Eischens struck out two of the three hitters he faced in the fifth.
The win evened Park Rapids’ record at 5-5.
