Century first graders headed out to the school prairie to add plants this week, discovering a bird nest and gopher holes, but few plants. A late spring has discouraged some of them from coming to fruition, although alive and well. Judy Haroldson, above, coordinates the intiative and explains the flora and fauna found on the open plains. She encouraged them to brag: "I helped plant the prairie." (Jean Ruzicka / Enterprise)
