Tristin Persons erupted for 27 points as the Park Rapids boys basketball team hit its season high point total of the season in a 76-71 loss at Pelican Rapids on Jan. 24.
Persons made four 3-pointers and hit 11 of 12 free throws to lead the Panthers, who led 39-34 at the half before being outscored 42-32 after the break. Will Pickar added 13 points and Jason Haas scored 11 points and dished out eight assists. Jake Dickinson chipped in six rebounds and five assists as the Panthers fell to 2-6 against Section 8AA teams.
Oakley Kress (24), Jacob Gottenborg (19) and McHale Korf (11) hit double figures for the Vikings, who snapped a six-game losing streak to improve to 3-7 against section opponents and 4-12 overall.

Patriots defeat Panthers
Pequot Lakes had 13 players enter the scoring column in a 73-30 Mid-State Conference victory over the Panthers Friday night at Pequot Lakes.
Noah Borleis scored 12 points and Gage Westlund added 10 points for the Patriots, who led 55-19 at the half.
Hunter Jewison (9) and Persons (7) combined for 16 points to lead the Panthers. Dickinson had three rebounds and three assists while Haas had two steals as Park Rapids fell to 0-7 in the conference and 3-15 overall by losing for the 10th game in a row.
The Patriots improved to 5-2 in conference games and 9-6 overall.
Crosby-Ironton tops the conference standings with a 5-0 record while Detroit Lakes is 3-2 and Staples-Motley is 1-3.
