Park Rapids Post 212 will host the West Region of the Division II American Legion baseball tournament Saturday and Sunday.
Park Rapids, the No. 3 seed, opens against Wadena-Deer Creek, the No. 2 seed, Saturday morning (July 21) at 11 in the first round of round-robin play in this three-team tournament. Wadena-Deer Creek plays No. 1 Pierz at 1:30 p.m. and Park Rapids plays Pierz at 4 p.m. All games will be seven innings and played at the Area High School varsity field.
If the teams are 2-0, 1-1 and 0-2 after Saturday's three games, the 2-0 team will advance as the West No. 1 seed while the 1-1 team will advance as the West No. 2 seed to the Northeast Sub-State Tournament July 25-29 at Ely. The 0-2 team will be eliminated.
If all three teams are 1-1, the teams will return on Sunday (July 22) with the team that has allowed the most runs playing the team that has allowed the second-most runs at 11 a.m. with the loser being eliminated. The winner of that game plays the team that has allowed the fewest runs at 1:30 with both teams advancing to Ely.
Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for students.
