Aggressiveness at the plate has the Park Rapids baseball team one win away from playing for the Section 8AA championship.
The Panthers, who are the No. 1 seed in the north, joined Perham as the only undefeated teams in the double-elimination tournament by following a 12-2 five-inning victory over Roseau with a 7-6 victory over East Grand Forks at Crookston Thursday.
“The boys have simply been excellent competitors and have persevered through tough situations. The guys have also had a great approach at the plate and we are hitting the ball very well. It’s nice to see them attack every pitch with some aggression,” said Park Rapids head coach Zach Holsman. “As we continue to be effective on the mound and hit the ball like we have all season, we’ll be tough from here on out.”
Park Rapids carried a 21-2 record and 16-game winning streak into Tuesday’s game at Perham, the No. 1 seed in the south. The winner of that game advances to the title game, which will be played Thursday at a site to be determined.
