Park Rapids and Nevis will open the section boys basketball tournament with home games.
The north quarterfinals of the Section 8AA tournament begin Thursday night with No. 4 Park Rapids (11-14) hosting No. 5 Roseau (15-11) at 7 p.m. The Panthers defeated Roseau 67-62 early in the season.
In the other north quarterfinal games, No. 1 Crookston (23-3) hosts either No. 8 Bagley (10-16) or No. 9 Warroad (3-22), No. 2 Crosby-Ironton (19-7) hosts No. 7 East Grand Forks (9-17) and No. 3 Pequot Lakes (11-14) hosts No. 6 Badger-Greenbush-Middle River (13-13).
Bemidji State will host the north semifinals Saturday night at 6 and 7:45 p.m. and the north championship game next Tuesday (March 3) at 7 p.m. Concordia College will host the Section 8AA championship game on March 6 at 7 p.m. Hawley (21-3) is the No. 1 seed in the south half.
Nevis, the No. 1 seed in the north half, will carry a 22-3 record into a Section 5A quarterfinal game Thursday night at the Tiger Arena. Nevis will host either No. 8 Verndale (10-15) or No. 9 Hill City (13-12) at 7 p.m. Thursday night’s other north quarterfinal games pit No. 2 Browerville (17-9) against either No. 7 Menahga (10-14) or No. 10 Northland (5-17), No. 3 Parkers Prairie (18-8) against No. 6 Sebeka (14-11) and No. 4 Bertha-Hewitt (17-9) against No. 5 Pine River-Backus (14-11).

The north semifinals will be played Saturday at sites to be determined. The north championship game is set for next Tuesday (March 3) with the Section 5A championship game set for March 6. Sites for those games will be determined later.
