The Park Rapids girls tennis team won two singles and two doubles matches to defeat Detroit Lakes 4-3 and swept the singles matches in a 5-2 victory over Crosby-Ironton during a Mid-State Conference triangular meet at Detroit Lakes on Monday, Sept. 27.
Abby Morris coasted to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles while Shailyn Hayes posted a 7-5, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles against Detroit Lakes. Rachael Herman and Mickey Clark teamed up for a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles while Macy Goochey and Morgan Koppelman recorded a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles for the deciding points against the Lakers.
In the win over Crosby-Ironton, Morris (6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles), Herman (6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles) and Koppelman (6-4, 6-1) at No. 3 singles posted straight-set wins in singles play. Hayes added a 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 win at No. 4 singles. Abby Runyan and Emmy Goochey prevailed 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 doubles as Park Rapids improved to 3-2 in conference matches and 9-4 overall.
