The Park Rapids girls tennis team swept a triangular meet at Roseau with a 4-3 win over East Grand Forks and a 7-0 victory over Roseau on Thursday, Sept. 30.
Macy Goochey posted a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles and Shailyn Hayes posted a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles while Abby Morris and Rachael Herman prevailed 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles and Emily Schulz and Morgan Koppelman won a deciding tiebreaker in rallying for a 3-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory at No. 2 doubles against East Grand Forks.
The Panthers shut out Roseau for the second time this season with Herman (6-0, 6-2 at No. 1), Koppelman (6-0, 6-2 at No. 2), Natalie Harvey (6-1, 6-0 at No. 3) and Emmy Goochey (6-0, 6-2 at No. 4) dropping only seven games in singles. Morris and Schulz won a first-set tiebreaker in a 7-6 (8-6), 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles while Mickey Clark and Macy Goochey (6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles) and Hayes and Abby Runyan (6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 doubles) completed the sweep.
The win over Roseau gave the Panthers a 5-1 record against Section 8A opponents and a 12-4 overall mark in dual meets.
Park Rapids will host a Section 8A quarterfinal match at the Depot Courts on Thursday, Oct. 7.
