A sweep in doubles led the Park Rapids girls tennis team to a pair of wins at Fergus Falls on Tuesday, Aug. 24.
Rachael Herman and Mickey Clark posted a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles; Emily Schulz and Macy Goochey rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles; and Emmy Goochey and Abby Runyan prevailed 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 doubles as the Panthers defeated Morris Area 5-2. Abby Morris coasted to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles while Natalie Harvey rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles. Morgan Koppelman dropped a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2 singles.
The Panthers used four straight-set victories in singles to blank Fergus Falls 7-0 as Morris didn’t drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles; Herman posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles; Koppelman prevailed 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 at No. 3 singles; and Shailyn Hayes recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles. Clark and Macy Goochey were victorious at No. 1 doubles with a 6-1, 6-3 decision; Harvey and Schulz prevailed in three sets by rallying for a 5-7, 6-3, 10-4 win at No. 2 doubles; and Runyan and Emmy Goochey posted a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 3 doubles.
The sweep in this triangular lifted Park Rapids to 3-0 in dual meets this season.
