Four winning performances led the Park Rapids girls track and field team to third place at Tuesday’s Park Rapids Invitational.
Detroit Lakes used 10 winning efforts to claim the title in this 10-team meet with 243.50 points. Crookston was second with 114.50 points while the Panthers followed with 108 points.
Lydia Kantonen, Tori Hilmanowski, Ellery Overmyer and Megan Olson opened the meet by winning the 4 x 800-meter relay in 10:19.70 while Olson, Hilmanowski, Overmyer and Abby Mueller ended the meet by winning the 4 x 400 relay in 4:24.50. Kantonen took first in the 3,200 run in 12:16.70 while Tayah Otterness led the field in the high jump by clearing 4 feet, 8 inches.
Mueller added a runner-up 26.77 in the 200 dash while Olson took third in the 800 run in 2:27.00
“The weather was fantastic, the competition was great and we had a blast,” said Park Rapids head coach Corey Hill. “We look forward to competing as a whole team as we still have several injuries and illnesses that are holding some of our girls back. We are glad we are dealing with all this in the first part of April and not in May when it really counts. The girls continue to improve and we look forward to the opportunities ahead of us.”

Nevis, led by third-place finishes in the 4 x 200 and 4 x 100 relays and Hannah Anderson in the triple jump, finished seventh with 31.50 points.
