Park Rapids' 4 x 800 relay team wins state title

Eli Bervig, Kaleb Stearns, Nathaniel Bervig and Lane Monaghan clocked a school record time of 8:12.86 to capture the boys Class A title.

Park Rapids' 4 x 800-meter relay team of Eli Bervig, Kaleb Stearns, Nathaniel Bervig and Lane Monaghan won the state title with a school record time of 8:12.86 during the state Class A boys track and field meet at St. Michael-Albertville High School on Friday, June 18.

Eli Bervig opened with a split of 2:05.23, Stearns followed in 2:03.12, Nathaniel Bervig clocked a 2:04.85 and Monaghan finished in 1:59.66 to give the Panthers the state title.

Park Rapids entered the state meet as the No. 1 seed after winning the Section 8A title in 8:15.67. Nova Classical Academy was second in 8:14.55.

Tristan Hill is competing in the shot put and discus while Stearns, Nathaniel Bervig and Monaghan will join Josiah May in the 4 x 400 relay. Hannah Morgan is competing in the girls long jump.
