Led by six straight-set wins, the Park Rapids girls tennis rolled to a 7-0 victory at Fergus Falls Tuesday.

The Panthers dropped only 15 games in sweeping the four singles matches with Natalie Kinkel, Abby Morris, Kendra Coborn and Mickey Clark coasting to straight-set wins.

Chloe Johnson and Jada Renneberg dropped only four games at No. 1 doubles while Madison Johnson and Meagan Powers posted a straight-set win at No. 3 doubles. Gracie Eischens and Rachael Herman completed the sweep by prevailing in three sets at No. 2 doubles.

Macy Goochey and Morgan Koppelman also won in an exhibition doubles match.

Park Rapids improved to 1-3 in dual meets.


"The girls have done a great job of stepping up," said Park Rapids head coach Brianne Morris. "I was very impressed with their play."

Panthers tie for 3rd

Minnewaska swept titles in the four singles matches and took first at No. 1 doubles in capturing the team title at the Park Rapids Invitational on Aug. 18.

Minnewaska topped the eight-team field with 37 points. Moorhead was second with 26 points while Park Rapids and East Grand Forks tied for third place with 16 points.

Clark finished third at No. 3 singles and Powers placed third at No. 4 singles to lead the Panthers. Chloe Johnson was fourth at No. 2 singles while the Panthers' three doubles teams also placed fourth. Coborn and Morris played at the No. 1 spot; Eischens and Herman competed at No. 2 doubles; and Abby Eystad, Madison Johnson and Kinley Nordin alternated at No. 3 doubles. Kinkel claimed the consolation title at No. 1 singles.

Cassidy Bera and Koppelman finished fifth at No. 3 doubles while Renneberg placed seventh at No. 2 singles playing for the Mixed Team, which was comprised of players from seven different teams.
