Jordan McCollum hit six 3-pointers and scored 33 points in leading the Park Rapids boys basketball team to a 67-62 win over Roseau Saturday night at the Area High School gym.
Despite leading for the final 36 minutes, the Panthers couldn’t put Roseau away until McColllum hit two free throws with 31 seconds left to seal the win in this battle of Section 8AA rivals.
Roseau held a 6-5 lead with 16:56 mark of the first half before a jumper by Damion Hanke gave the Panthers a 7-6 lead at the 15:36 mark. Park Rapids would not trail the rest of the game.
A layup by Derek Porozinski and three 3-pointers and a three-point play by Jordan McCollum gave the Panthers a 21-10 lead with 12:35 to go in the first half.
Two layups by Remington Hagan, a jumper by McCollum and a layup by Porozinski made it 29-16 at the 9:43 mark before a 3-pointer by Spencer Sabourin and two jumpers by Ethan Johnson cut the gap to 29-24 with 3:17 to go.

Nick Lopez’s 3-pointer was offset by a 3-pointer by Brandon Pfeiffer as the Panthers carried a 33-29 lead into the break.
A 3-pointer by Lopez, a basket off a rebound by Porozinski, and a layup off a steal and 3-pointer by McCollum gave the Panthers a 43-35 edge with 14:47 remaining.
A pair of jumpers and a pair of 3-pointers by McCollum kept the Panthers in front 59-51 with 6:30 to play before three inside baskets by Johnson cut the gap to 63-60 with 2:38 left. A layup by Hagan and two free throws by McCollum in the final 1:11 helped the Panthers seal the win.
Porozinski also hit double figures with 18 points and joined Hanke with eight rebounds. Hagan dished out eight assists and Lopez had three steals as Park Rapids improved to 2-2 against section teams and 4-2 overall.
Johnson finished with 31 points to lead Roseau, which fell to 2-2 in the section and 3-4 overall.

Rangers edge Panthers
Noah Gindorff’s 16 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocked shots sparked Crosby-Ironton to a 53-45 win over the Panthers Friday night at Crosby.
Brady Tesdahl and Ben Jordan added 10 points apiece for the Rangers, who improved to 1-1 in the conference and 1-2 overall.
McCollum scored 19 points and had nine rebounds, Porozinski scored 18 points, Hunter Jewison grabbed 10 rebounds and Hagan had five assists for the Panthers, who fell to 1-1 in the conference.
