It was a successful weekend for the Park Rapids wrestling team.
The Panthers followed a 50-27 win over New York Mills Thursday night at the Area High School gym with wins over Deer River (34-18), Bemidji’s junior varsity (63-15) and Wadena-Deer Creek (56-6) Saturday at the Century School gym.
Those four victories lifted the Panthers to 6-1 in dual meets this season.

Six pins sparked the Panthers past New York Mills.
Ashton Clark’s 17-2 technical fall win at 106 pounds and Landen Burlingame’s pin at the 4:28 mark at 113 gave the Panthers a quick 11-0 lead.
After New York Mills won the next two matches, Jared Sunram’s 6-2 minor decision at 132, Nolan Booge’s pin at the 1:12 mark at 138 and Ben Baumgartner’s pin at the 1:16 mark at 145 pushed the Panthers’ lead to 26-9.
Cody Dravis’ pin in 42 seconds at 160, Justin Dravis’ forfeit win at 170 and Zach Tretbar’s pin in 3:33 at 182 gave Park Rapids a 44-15 advantage. Jacob Bittmann’s pin at 3:23 at 220 concluded the scoring for the Panthers as New York Mills fell to 4-5 on the season.

Panthers win title at own meet
Park Rapids used 17 pins to win all three matches at the Panther Duals Saturday.
In the win over Deer River, the Panthers trailed 18-0 before rallying for the win behind pins by Sunram at 132, Booge at 138 and Chris Baxter at heavyweight and a 13-0 major decision by Baumgartner at 145. Zach Nelson (at 160) and Bittmann (at 220) received forfeit wins.
Bemidji’s JV held a 15-6 lead before the Panthers won the final 10 matches. Baumgartner (at 145), Cody Dravis (at 152), Nelson (at 160), Justin Dravis (at 170), Tretbar (at 182), Zach Hocking (at 195), Bittmann (at 220) and Baxter (at 285) recorded pins for the Panthers. Sunram posted a 2-0 decision at 132 while Burlingame (at 113) and Dawson Roth (at 138) received forfeit wins as Deer River fell to 0-7 in dual meets.
Pins by Clark (at 106), Toby Ritter (at 120), Baumgartner (at 145), Cody Dravis (at 152), Justin Dravis (at 170) and Bittmann (at 220) sparked the Panthers past W-DC. Burlingame posted a 15-5 major decision at 113, Sunram posted a 4-1 decision at 132, Nelson had a 15-5 major decision at 160 and Tretbar had a 7-5 minor decision at 195. Booge won by forfeit at 138 as W-DC fell to 2-5.
In Saturday’s other matches, Bemidji’s JV defeated W-DC 47-35 and Deer River 31-30 while W-DC defeated Deer River 51-30.
