Annie Hajostek’s hat trick and three power-play goals powered Crookston to a 6-2 win over the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team in the first round of the Section 8A playoffs Thursday night at Crookston.
Hajostek opened the scoring at the 5:18 mark of the first period before Macy Strem and Leah Trostad followed with power-play goals at the 8:55 and 15:21 marks to give the No. 4-seeded Pirates a 3-0 lead. Crookston held a 12-3 advantage in shots in the opening period.
Hajostek completed her hat trick with a goal at the 4:44 mark and a shorthanded goal at the 9:03 mark of the second period to extend the Pirates’ lead to 5-0.
The Panthers opened the third period with a pair of goals as Paige Myhre scored at the 6:34 mark and Taylor Sagen set up Serena Aletto at the 10:58 mark. But the Pirates sealed the win on Trostad’s power-play goal at the 14:26 mark.
Goalie Julia Smith made 27 saves as the No. 5-seeded Panthers ended the season with a 6-17-1 record.

Crookston, which shut out the Panthers by scores of 2-0 and 4-0 during the regular season, used a 33-20 advantage in shots to improve to 7-16-1.
