Crookston received the No. 4 seed and will host the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley girls hockey team when the Section 8A playoffs begin Thursday night.
The No. 5-seeded Panthers ended the regular season with a 6-16-1 record and will travel to Crookston for a 7 p.m. quarterfinal game. Crookston defeated the Panthers 2-0 and 4-0 during the regular season and enters the playoffs with an identical 6-16-1 record.
The winner of that game plays No. 1 Thief River Falls (20-1-3) Monday night at 6 at Crookston. No. 2 Warroad (14-7-3) plays No. 3 East Grand Forks (14-6-2) at 8:15 in Monday night’s other section semifinal game.
Crookston will host the Section 8A title game on Feb. 12.
Thief River Falls is rated No. 1, Warroad is rated No. 5 and East Grand Forks is rated No. 6 in the latest state Class A poll.
